At the first time I step my feet on the Intercontinental Midplaza Hotel Jakarta floor, I just honored become one of hundreds programmers, database specialists, and many other IT professionals. The event was held to introduce Oracle 11g, the newest Oracle product. All audience in the event come from several company. But I knew they are, of course, the best IT staff in the company delegating them. I felt so bad and poor in IT knowledge when I was listening their question about Oracle database/application and other concepts relate with database. Mr Blair, The Oracle Senior Marketing Manager as the first speaker at the event, sometimes gave his appreciation when an audience throws a smart question about Oracle. Shortly, the Oracle Development Day held at June 11th 2008 was very impressive for me. It’s an amazing event! Special thanks to Oracle Indonesia!
I just think about some Oracle products thrown publicly for free. It’s a brave strategy in marketing. They belief that they wouldn’t suffer a financial loss by throw the product for free. And I just realize it was a strategy to make some public dependence of their product. When public need more facilities or feature, of course they need to upgrade the product they used. Well..it’s time for Oracle to give “some” price for their extended features or even for the whole products. Wow…it’s an amazing marketing strategy.
For Indonesian business players, especially in IT and more especially in my company 😛 , it won’t become a managerial consideration. Well..perhaps they had better strategy by raising the products price up as well as they can…who knows..haha.. 😀 . But in fact, we never maneuvering a great marketing yet. Actually we just run old marketing theories. So, I think we will lose if we don’t have a marketing strategy as great as the strategy implemented by Oracle.
